Publications are an important means of disseminating knowledge. Many scientific journals are available online, making the access easier. In the initial part of my career, I was not keen on publishing, as I thought, the main duty of a doctor is to treat sick patients. As I was a faculty in a teaching college (CMC Vellore) during 2001-2004, teaching postgraduates was an added responsibility, leaving less time for writing and publishing. However, Prof mathew Alexander, my teacher in Neurology at CMC Vellore, stressed on the importance of publishing. This resulted in multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
